Earth Day

The Army actively promotes Earth Day each year, and encourages all Army installations to use it as an additional opportunity to promote environmental awareness. Although all installations have specific programs and procedures in place to comply with the environmental laws, Earth Day activities are a chance to remind everyone that the quality and future of our planet depend on everyone, not just a limited amount of people.

Fort Rucker's official Earth Day observance began in 1998 when two employees from Fort Rucker's Environmental and Natural Resources Offices put together an Earth Day Team which visited several elementary schools talking to students about environmental issues.  Since then, several of the last year's events have included an Earth Day Expo, which is held on the installation.  The Expo informs the Fort Rucker community about various environmentally friendly products and services that are available for use at work and home.
